This Privacy Policy describes how KarmaCruze LLC ("KarmaCruze," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you join our waitlist or interact with our website at karmacruze.com (the "Site"). We've tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at waitlist@karmacruze.com.
1. Information we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect:
- Contact information: your email address.
- Location signal: your ZIP code (used only to determine your region for waitlist threshold purposes).
- Intent information: what you indicated you'd like to do on KarmaCruze (e.g., buy a car, sell a car, both, or just follow along), and any sub-question response (timing or seller type).
- Technical information: the type of browser and device you used, and the timestamp of your signup.
We do not collect your name, phone number, address, government-issued ID, payment information, vehicle information, or any sensitive personal information at the waitlist stage.
2. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Send you a confirmation email when you join the waitlist.
- Notify you when KarmaCruze launches in your region or expands eligibility.
- Aggregate signups by region to determine which markets to launch in first.
- Communicate with you about your waitlist status, founding-member benefits, and product updates.
- Detect and prevent duplicate signups, spam, and abuse.
We do not use your information for advertising or behavioral profiling.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers we use to operate the waitlist: Google Workspace (for email delivery from karmacruze.com), Google Sheets and Google Apps Script (for waitlist data storage), Netlify (for website hosting), and Zippopotam.us (for ZIP-to-city resolution; we send only the ZIP code, no other personal information).
- Law enforcement, regulators, or courts if we are legally required to do so.
- A successor company in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of KarmaCruze assets — in which case the successor would be bound by this Privacy Policy with respect to your information.
4. How we store and protect your information
Your waitlist information is stored in Google Sheets, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure inside the United States. We use industry-standard administrative and technical safeguards (access controls, encryption in transit, two-factor authentication on admin accounts) to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. How long we keep your information
We retain your waitlist information until you ask us to delete it, or until KarmaCruze winds down operations, whichever happens first. If you unsubscribe but don't request deletion, we'll keep a minimal record (your email address only) so we don't accidentally re-add you.
6. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Access the personal information we have about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information from our waitlist.
- Unsubscribe from waitlist communications without deleting your account.
To exercise any of these rights, email waitlist@karmacruze.com from the address you signed up with. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we have collected and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email above.
7. Children's privacy
KarmaCruze is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the record.
8. Cookies and tracking
The KarmaCruze waitlist site uses minimal browser storage to improve your experience (e.g., remembering whether you've already submitted). We do not use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioral tracking on the waitlist site.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as KarmaCruze grows and as legal requirements evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. If the changes are material, we'll email everyone on the waitlist before they take effect.
